I really hope this is a change in code, not just a coincidence where a GM happened to be in the same district. Having to keep the chat off because of useless trade crap is one of the most annoying things in the game, so hopefully they're seriously taking action against it.

I agree, if this is a new code change instead of just a random dev ban this will improve the game 100%.

Trade Spam Nerf FTW!

I've heard of more cases of such bans that happened today so i guess it's a new organised action against spam.
We know they have an option of *muting* an account so why not use that instead of a ban?
And the exact rules about what behavior qualifies for a ban should be made public. Towns are still as full of spam as they were before but some random people got hit by bans.

And i know it's not an excuse but there IS a real need for a new greatly impoved trade system...

I lost count how many times I've had to tell people "try using the trade chat to buy/sell stuff, where it belongs...". It's about time Anet takes action against people like the OP. If I want to see trade messages, I'll have that channel turned on.

I'd like if they would make an official statement about this.

c'mon, it's not like this is Blizzard or something. They'll tell you when they feel it's your priviledged time to know, and not a minute too soon. Who do you think you are that you rate an explanation of the rules so soon after a change? A VIP or something? Wait until they grant you the serenity to know (or else run out of excuses/denials). It's just a game. You are lucky ANet allows you to continue to grace their kingdoms.. Information.. hah.. greedy bastard. Besides, it's all player lies (and player blame) until/unless they decide to disclose. Quit umping on the player bandwagon, you know we all lie about this stuff.

heh, you will get it when you're broken. ever read 1984? you know the drill. again, who do you think you're dealing with? players are all just greedy bastards. take what you're given and suck it up... you consume what they give you, and you'll love it...

Well, Kamadan being a starting town shoudl not have so much trade, It confuses and deters new players.
Second, trade spam is in more than the first district of each city. And as it has been stated many times here before, Local chat is not meant for trade full stop.

I personally refuse to buy an item if its placed in chat via spamming, regardless of channel.

Thanks for new anti-spamming system. As I see no other viable options to sell (unless you get super uber items), I will keep all to myself, give friends, or merch them. Trading ftl!

However...Anet has a provision for controlling mass spamming. They have an automatic message suppresion function in place. If you have trouble following the WTS ads in the legitimate trade channel, go to a less populated district where you can find a market pace closer to your ability to follow.
Maybe you don't understand what i mean, here an example:

WTS best axe in game
WTS best axe in game
WTS best axe in game

Usually poorly described, but even worse three times the same message in a row, this is abbusive spam. In the EULA is stated that spamming is not allowed thus this should result in a ban too, IMO. Now if you "spam", once per 25-30 lines or so, i can perfectly live with that. But repeating to just draw attention is just a bad mechanism that interferes with the chat space for others. Like messages written in CAPS, same stuff, and giving you a headache, try that on a forum, and see how long you will last.

I hope this clears stuf up. If you still disagree, and think that stuttering traders are a legit means then i can only suggest to read the EULA.

Good game Anet.
Don't spam your wares, but we won't give you any "decent" system in which to sell your items. whoooo hooo~

If there is a new code in place, why haven't we been told about it? Miss Gaile?

Quick question to the Europe territory people out there: Is it as bad as the American servers? Worse? Pretty good? Just wondering because I've noticed people referencing AD1 of the outposts.

Me either - it's my way of protesting against it. I'd never buy from someone who spamms 3 or 4 times in a split second to grab my attention because it's bumping other peoples' WTB/WTS statements of the screen.

I also refuse to buy an item when people say it's 'Q9'. It makes no sense. 'Requirement' begins with R.

Need some help with reading comprehension?

The definition of spamming is up to the Anet team to decide. I very much doubt you'll see bans of people using the trade channel. Even if it's retarded descriptions 3 times in a row. There is a filter that kicks in, and suppresses "spamming" automatically. No need for your interpretations.

The bans you will see are the wackos that insist on "spamming" their wares in the local CHAT channel. Go have a cookie.

ARENANET'S GRATUTITOUS BANNINGS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A WEAK AND INEFFECTIVE POLICY AND IT'S PROOF THAT THEY SUCK!

THIS IS THE END! OF GUILD WARS! GO PLAY WOW, WHERE THEY BAN YOU FOR ACCIDENTLY SAYING JUST ONE BAD WORD!

...hehe.

If such a policy is intact, I'm surprised we haven't seen more posts about such bannings. From what I see in LA/Kaineng/Kamadan, half of the people there should be banned in a similar manner.

I agree, whoever came up with that Q9 crap needs a punch in the face. R9 makes more sense...

I think this change/update/something could be interesting, if it isn't just a few isolated incidences.
